These 2 schools have been the top 10 schools in Singapore. Exam-style practices are provided to reinforce important concepts, thereby developing your child’s problem solving abilities and confidence in Math. Our experienced tutors will guide students through exam techniques and strategies to improve their performance in Math.
2. Math Olympiad
The objectives of the Math Olympiad training programme are as follows:
- Broaden students’ Mathematical knowledge and further develop their problem solving and thinking skills.
- Equip students with a wide repertoire of strategies to solve problems requiring higher order thinking skills.
- Provide opportunities for creativity and discovery to enhance their interest in Mathematics.
- To cultivate in them, a passion and interest in taking on questions of increasing level of difficulty.
- To help students acquire and understand the core thinking skills and prepare them for the rigours of competitive mathematics.
- To help students apply the newly acquired skills to solve specific problems
This training programme will also prepare students for participation in local and International Mathematics competitions e.g. Singapore Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools (SMOPS) organised by Hwa Chong Institution, National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore (NMOS) organized by the NUS High School of Math and Science, Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) and Annual Mathlympics organized by Anglo-Chinese School.
Questions are compiled from competitions held both locally and regionally to give students greater exposure. There are key topics and each topic is presented with worked examples and practice questions. To reinforce the importance of speed and accuracy, each question is accompanied by a recommended time of completion. The modules will cover Numbers and Four Operations, Making a Logical Deduction, IQ Questions, Excess and Shortage Problems, Solving by Assumption, Age Problems, Fractions, Percentage, Ratio, Dirichlet’s Box Principle, Finding a Pattern, Speed and Rate and non-routine Math problems.
3. Math HOP [Math Hands-on Programme]
Math HOP employs the “Progressive Learning” and “Habits of Mind” concepts to aid students in learning Mathematics. Through fun and interesting activities with contents that are in line with the current Mathematics school syllabus, our programme allows students to begin revising at a comfortable starting point, with work that is fun, but yet syllabus-related and can be easily completed. This allows students to improve their perceptions towards Mathematics, master the basic concepts and gain complete proficiency with successively more difficult steps until they are very proficient with answering typical examination questions. Our activities also include the use of a wide range of manipulatives to allow students hands-on practice and help them understand the concepts better.
After which, students will be exposed to problems which requires them to solve more non-routine problems so as to hone their creative and critical thinking skills to tackle visualization and problem-based questions in typical PSLE examinations. These activities also provides abundant opportunities for students to use thinking skills to acquire, extend, refine and apply their knowledge to situations that they would encounter in life.
4. Secondary Math Stepladder Programme
With the guidance of our Math Expert Tutors, students can gain targeted support in various mathematical subjects such as algebra and calculus. We customise the programme to help students to achieve a deeper understanding of the concepts and answering techniques. Our small class sizes enable students to ask questions, seek clarifications and receive immediate responses which are often the best way to learn as opposed to a typical school classroom setting. This programme is aligned to the curriculum, making them particularly beneficial for exam preparation for O levels.
